In the hysteria of World War II, just months after Pearl Harbor, the city of Los Angeles plunged into darkness. Air raid sirens wailed. Searchlights scanned the sky. Then, all hell broke loose. For hours, US artillery pounded a glowing object hovering over the coast. But when the smoke cleared... there was no wreckage. No Japanese planes. Nothing.
